The TriCAP VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) Program relies on volunteers to prepare taxes free of charge for low income households. In 2016 we prepared taxes for 2035 Taxpayers and completed 5019 tax returns, which brought over $3.6 million in refunds to these households, saving them over an estimated $400,000 in tax preparation fees. We are looking for tax preparers, tax reviewers (have experience preparing taxes), and tax site assistants (customer service position that does not prepare taxes). Training is provided and preparers become IRS certified. Call Tri-CAP at 320-251-1612 or visit our website at www.tricap.org/volunteer for more information.

The Tri-CAP Volunteer Driver Program serves the residents of Benton, Morrison, Sherburne, and Stearns Counties, providing rides primarily to medical appointments. In 2015 our volunteer drivers gave over 26,000 one-ways rides, invested over 21,000 hours, and drove over 600,000 miles providing this much-needed service. Volunteer drivers use their own vehicles and are paid a mileage reimbursement at the federal IRS rate. Our volunteers say that helping people gives them a good feeling. If you are interested in experiencing that “good feeling” call Tri-CAP or visit our website at www.tricap.org/volunteer.
