Project ASTRIDE provides therapeutic recreational activities on horseback for riders with a wide range of physical or cognitive disabilities. PA works with riders of all ages. Each rider is assisted by up to three volunteers and is taught by one of four NARHA certified instructors. NARHA is the national organization that sets standards for and provides accreditation for equine-assisted therapeutic activities.
Project ASTRIDE began in 1986 and is currently running with an all-volunteer crew including four certified instructors. We hold classes in three eight week sessions in the spring, summer, and fall. Our program is currently located at Avon Hills Quarterhorse & Paints Farm in Avon, MN.
